Restaurant Marketing Ideas To Boost Sales

Define your Identity.

Your marketing strategy begins with building your brand.  Who are you?  What makes you unique?  Once you define who you are, you can position yourself against your competitors.

Does your restaurant have a mission statement?  Here are a few restaurant mission statements for inspiration:

P.F. Chang’s  mission statement is to “Celebrate Life. Family. Food.”

Starbucks mission statement is “To inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time.

Have an optimized website.

Build a website that is mobile responsive, optimized for speed and has all of the right keywords. To show up on search engines.   One of the most common searches is “restaurant near me”.   You definitely want to be a restaurant that shows up on that list.

Give your customers an easy online ordering system.

Third-party applications are great for promotion, but once a customer has ordered from your restaurant using a third-party app, you want them to order from you directly in the future. Having an online ordering system can save your restaurant thousands of dollars in fees.

Take photos of your food.

Today, people want to see exactly what they are getting.  If you don’t have pictures of your food, you may lose your customer to another restaurant.   Below are some tips

·      Make sure your food is picture worthy by using the freshest ingredients.

·      Take the time to create beautiful plating for your dishes.

·      Take a photo with a clean background and natural lighting.

Respond to reviews.

Whether you have good reviews or bad reviews, you should be responding to them all.  You want to show our appreciation to the customer that took the time to post about your restaurant.  This will help you create loyal customers.  If you get a bad review, make sure that you give an online apology and let them know that you will remedy the problem so that it never happens again.  Use those bad reviews as a tool to better your restaurant.

Be active on social media.

You don’t need to have a profile on every platform, but Google, Instagram and Facebook are a great start.  Post 3 times a week and take advantage of scheduling software to post a month in advance to make sure it gets done.  Also get your customers to do advertising for you by incentivizing them to “check in” to your restaurant and post photos of their food and drinks (the more photo worthy they are, the more likely your customers are to post.  Maybe you could offer them a coupon for their next order or a free soda.
